Acer Released C7 Chromebook in just $199

Acer has just released the C7 Chromebook with Google chrome OS in just $199. Last month Samsung Chromebook hit the market with price tag of $250 which is also a very impressive netbook model in cheap price. So what’s the difference between both these models, well the first difference is price but the good thing is that both netbooks have same screen size but Acer C7 is much thicker than the Samsung Chromebook. On the other hand Acer got more powerful processor as compare to the Samsung’s ARM based processor which basically used in smartphones and uses less power.

Acer C7 Chromebook Features

The best thing about Chromebooks is that you don’t have to worry about the critical updates in your system in order to protect it. Google says that these devices are certainly for those people who hate viruses. All you operating system files including Apps will update automatically and that’s why its so easy to learn without the extra need of buying the expensive software’s. You can choose from thousands of Free apps available from Google Play Store just like you do in your smartphone.

It comes with 11.6 inch screen which is quite the standard when it comes to netbooks and Dual-core Intel® Celeron® Processor which is not that fast but faster than the Samsung’s Chromebook ARM based processor. Booting time is less than 20 seconds and it automatically startup when you open it and go to sleep mode when you close it. Very slim design and only one inch thick with 3 pounds of weight means it highly portable.

Another main difference between two devices is that Samsung model has all flash memory while Acer C7 Chromebook has traditional hard-drive which is slower and cheaper too. But Acer model got the HD camera which you will not find in other Chromebooks. As you may know that these netbooks mainly work on internet connection so that is why Acer shipped the Dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n with Ethernet connection so that you can easily connect it to internet without any problem.     This pricing is insane. Think about it: This is $199 for a computer that is sufficient for the majority of users who do nothing but use facebook, search google, watch youtube.

    I feel the price is amazing and will drive the adoption of this – the only problem: Will it happen in markets where demand fr $199 computer is high? Africa would be the prime destination, people could afford this and it would have a huge impact on the economic development.

    I think this will be a very interesting domain to observe in the coming years.

    I’m glad I read this before buying one. 2GB is about 6GB too low, and it it can’t be upgraded, the C7 is useless junk.

  4. Chromebooks are TRASH. I got one as a gift. The computers are painfully slow, and have NO software or hardware flexibility. It truly is the WORST laptop there is.
